Raphaël Horrach joins the KD SCHMID Fellowship Scheme

KD SCHMID is excited to welcome French trumpeter Raphaël Horrach to our Fellowship Scheme.
Born in Ajaccio, Corsica, Raphaël has established himself as one of the most compelling young trumpeters of his generation, most recently taking Third Prize at the prestigious ARD International Music Competition in Munich in 2025. He has appeared with orchestras including the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Ensemble Intercontemporain and the Münchener Kammerorchester. His artistic development has been profoundly shaped by his studies with Håkan Hardenberger. Through this guidance, Raphaël has continued to refine his musical voice, explore a wide range of repertoire, and seek new expressive possibilities on the instrument.
Highlights of the 2026/27 season include a recital tour of Japan with a performance at the Blue Rose Hall of Suntory Hall, Tokyo, a recital and masterclass tour of the United States, and a London performance of Arutunian's Trumpet Concerto at Smith Square Hall.
Through the KD SCHMID Fellowship Scheme, we provide tailored support to artists at the start of their careers, drawing on the expertise of our team and roster. Built around a bespoke plan for each fellow, the programme is designed to equip them with the knowledge, connections and confidence to develop their careers.
We look forward to accompanying Raphaël on the next stage of his journey.
